Description of 4x4 Off-Road Racing
4 x 4 Offroad Racing is a fun offroad racing game in which you must avoid obstacles and repair your car in your race for the finish line. The ability to choose accessories for your car, e.g. tires and gas tanks, makes the game highly replayable. The variety of tracks, from the blistering desert of Death Valley to the snow-covered tracks of Michigan, makes up for their limited number.
Overall, a fun game with excellent graphics for its time (the animation of toppling-over car is particularly amusing to watch).

This game is very good on C64 however DOS and Amiga versions were too much focused on direct conversion and it became spoiled on the way.

a well designed, fun game. even can be said that includes a fair amount of rpg elements.

For the ones asking about the keys there are the arrow keys to control the vehicle, also in the menus, number 0 in the numeric keyboard as fire button, "S" key for toggle sound and "P" for pause.
To make a repair, move the hand icon over the broken part and press the
left mouse button, fire button, or 0 on the numeric keypad.
For more info You can write in Google or your favorite browser something like "4x4 Off Road Racing manual", without the quotes, and there you go.

Oh come on!
Does anybody knows how to solve the problem of running out of gas?
When I was 8 I never finished a race, and now I'm having the same result! _

SonicTheBlueBlur2:
You have to press insert, 0 key on my old computers numeric keypad, labeled with an "ins". Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to start the race!
If anyone has any help on the keys to press, I'm sure we would all appreciate it!

I can't seem to get past the terrain and level selection? What key do I press to do this? I tried both the regular enter key and the enter key on the number pad (with num lock on and off). Could someone please help me?

DosBox 0.74 + Win7 - Works Great
I think the description for this game is dead on. The graphics are surely dated but that's some of the fun too... the neat part is you need to buy things you'll need on your LONG races so you can refuel, fix things etc.
Pretty neat - there are game features in here that I never thought would be in a game this old... like how much is modular like today's car/truck/bike racing stuff - new paint, tires, engines etc - this game has that kinda thing going on.
Pretty cool.
