BC's Quest for Tires
DOS - 1984
Description of BC's Quest for Tires
A moderately popular game on the C64 that went unnoticed on the PC, Sierra's BC's Quest for Tires is an average early platform game based on B.C., a popular Johnny Hart comic strip.
You are BC (yes, that's your name), caveman comic hero on a mission: rescue your girlfriend. Gameplay is very simple: riding a monocycle, you must dodge trees, jump over holes, and avoid other obstacles while staying on your tires.
Fun for a while, but gets repetitive quite quickly as there's not enough gameplay variation or types of obstacles to hold anyone's interest for long. Too bad the witticisms of the comic strip are all but lost in this computer license.

FYI: The Game was initially a PC Booter game and never had support for Keyboard Control! The "Jumping" Problem occurs, when [joysticktype=none] is set. (when auto is used an no joystick is detected it will become none). Just set [joysticktype=2axis] (even if you do not have a joystick attached) and re-run the game... jumping is gone...
So either use a joystick to play the game OR remap the keyboard (CTRL-F1 in Dosbox).

SPACEXION, I have the same jumping problem, I run the DOS version with DOS-Box. I tried slow down emulation clock speed but it doesn't help, I have no idea how to fix the problem. Just wondering if we need really need running it in an old 286 or 386 machine.
BTW, there are also an Apple II version.

I have this for my C64 mini, it's a fun one, if short. My kids are going to play it too!

I can't play this game at all: BC is always jumping, as if an "auto-fire" feature was on and fire/jump button was continuosly pressed.
I've tried this on 3 different PC with PCem (2 Linux and 1 Windows), with Dosbox on Linux and playing online here on myabandonware (with embedded Dosbox) and this weird jumping issue was always present in all my tests.
Does anyone have an idea about this?

Nice graphics game play is about what you expected back in the 80's. Fairly short game though, I remember the first time I completed it I expected more. BC is looking for "the cute chick" (that's actually the female characters name from the comics) not tires.

I remember this on the c64. great memories! Yeh it's repetitive, but back then, we'd also play Pitfall for 4 hours straight.

Had this on both the C64 and ColecoVision, good memories
