Carrier Strike: South Pacific 1942-44
DOS - 1992
Description of Carrier Strike: South Pacific 1942-44
Gary Grigsby's updated version of Carrier Force, it did not have the graphic capabilities of [SSG's] Carriers at War II, but it did have a campaign option. While I considered this to be a worthwhile option, I do have to admit that my then-fifteen year old son would not even bother booting this up, although he was fascinated with Carriers at War.
In summary, I would recommend this to the grognard, while Carriers at War has more appeal to the MTV generation. [excerpt from M. Evan Brooks' Homepage]

The link is broken for this and the add on. The manual downloaded just fine. Is the game no longer available?

Brings back memories. Unfortunately, unless you have the original manual, you can't play. It asks for certain word on a certain page as it's copy protection.

Needed to add, there was an expansion that seems impossible to find anywhere. Added night missions and some extra scenarios. Eternally lost?

Superb game. Campaign is a hoot but later in the war the Japanese navy is up against impossible odds. The flak rules become quirky and no matter how well you husband your pilots through early victories you will eventually be turkey shot into oblivion. That said, early victories can put you into an easy win on points.
As the allies the early war can be dangerous. If the first random scenario pits u against an intelligence report of very heavy enemy activity be extremely cautious. It is very easy to be damaged enough to not be able to show at early battles including midway, meaning the Japanese rack up the points.
