UPDATE-
So the ISO worked and installed correctly after I used Daemon Tools (instead of Power ISO)
The game worked following BiggerBrain's instructions. (Thanks BiggerBrain)
However Mission 2 does not seem to get unlocked after completing Mission 1. Next mission does not show on the List.
I tried a campaign unlocker method on the config.ini per GameCopyWorld- Did not work.
Any idea how to play beyond Mission 1?

The RIP Version worked but does not go beyond Mission 1. The next mission simply does not show on the list after completing the first mission.
The ISO version's installation dies at 99% for some reason.
The Alt RIP version doesn't run. Blank screen and back.
I'm on Win 11.
Please help!

I figure it out, it took some trial and error:
1. Get the rip version and the official ISO
2. Extract the .ISO and install the game into a folder
3. Extract the rip
4. In the rip there is a No CD crack, apply that folder to the officially installed Far West from the iso. Chances are Windows 10 already virus blocked the original farwest.exe
5. This is important, you need to create a shortcut but the Start In must be pointing to Far West. Not Far West\win32 or whatever. But the Far West folder just after JoWood (ie "C:\Jowood\Far West" The Target HOWEVER must have the following after the quotation marks bin\farwest.tcl (ie: "C:\JoWood\Far West\bin\win32\farwest.exe" bin\farwest.tcl)
The game generally has no music but you will get all the SFX and videos from the official install while using the crack from the RIP (The new alternative RIP). Also the voice acting for the little cut scenes
Thats it. No resolution control. DO NOT USE dgvoodoo, I learned the hard way that it was causing my crashes. You do not need to set any compatibility either, doing so tends to crash the game.

Game is working fine but there is no sound, both music and game sounds are at 0% and stay at 0 even when i change them. Anyone know a fix? (i have the config file and everything installed correctly)

The new RIP gives "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error". Even after replacing the "Farwest.exe" and "nFarwest.dll" from NoCD crack.

The new version works by deleting the farwestRUN, extracting the NOCD fix and pasting the new files over it

The reason people are having trouble with this is the hard fact the game shipped with a virus. It's not the NOCD. The actual legit bought-and-paid-for CD will have a trojan on farwest.exe. So when you install and it says "installation is corrupt" that's because your anti-virus (or whatever OS post Windows 7) will detect it as malicious when it tries to copy over farwest.exe. Whether it or not it is I'm not qualified to say. Though to be fair the fact this game is abandonware and hard to get should be an indicator.
This game has LOTS of script issues. You'll be replaying missions over and over and over just to trigger the scripts. The most stable you will ever get is running a Windows 98 virtual machine with an emulated ATI Rage Pro graphic card. You'll basically hire cowboys, graze cows, ward off bandits, buy supplies like whisky to keep the morale of your cowboys up, sell cattle and that's it. It's more of a management game than an RTS. I've only grown a town once and never again because of aforementioned scripting issues.
If the .ISO is giving you corrupted file you need to open it up with Daemon Tools or PowerISO extract all files into a folder. You can install the game from the extracted files. Though in Win10 you will get the "install corrupted" at the end when FarWest.exe is copied over and basically craps the bed.
So BE CAREFUL

Works like a charm on Windows 7, although the menu is a bit skewed. On Windows 10 even more graphics seem to be missing (mostly the GUI when playing).

i got the disc version and even that contains a virus. i played it multiplayer and it is exceptionally difficult.

The rip version contains a virus and the installation from the iso aborts with a
n error.
