Description of Lightspeed

Lightspeed and Hyperspeed are without a doubt two of the most underrated space sims of all time designed by celebrated Gunship 2000 and F-15 Strike Eagle III designer Andy Hollis. Although billed as "adventure/strategy" games, they are actually space sims with some adventure game elements. Still, categorization quibbles can't hide the fact that they are two of the very best-- with fluid animations, cool ships, and great interface.

In all, great space exploration sims that follow in the venerable Elite tradition. Highly recommended.

THG released a working version, get it over at XTCA. This version (from rawcopy.exe and also the neverlock.exe version) crashes during spindrive.

Hello!! where i get NeverLock? And how can i break the protection?

Mordanthanus 2012-08-31 0 point DOS version

The hex edit that is used to bypass the "copy protection" also breaks the navigation in the game. This was a known issue back when the game was really popular.

The copy protection in this version of the game isn't really broken - if you try to go to navigation it crashes because of the copy protection. You need to break it manually with a contemporary (for the game) breaking program like NeverLock, and then the game will play fine. Goes the same for Hyperspeed.

I have the same problem and all the searching I've done has turned up nothing. Anyone have ideas?

Downloaded and it runs using DOSBox, however I cannot get to anything beyond that. If I press 'N' or 'C' to view navigation or star system information, it freezes up. Any tips from anyone?
