Patches for this game can be found here: http://www.sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/Patches-Updates-Games/MetalTechUpdates.html
Note that 1.01 is already included in the expansion.
Also your 2nd download, which looks like a preinstalled CD version of the game, is missing it's cutscenes. You can add them though by copying FLIC folder and PLAYFLIC.EXE off the game disk and editing ESOURCE.CFG and ES.BAT to reflect the new locations.

Don't believe the "poor man's mechwarrior" comments. Earthsiege is very much its own beast, with a lot to recommend it. For one, it has a much more engaging campaign, with persistent squad mates, mechs, salvaging, mech construction, and damage. Second, while the mechs tend to be slower than MW2, the combat is MUCH faster. Once in engagement range, either you or your opponent tend to be dead in under five seconds. You're also able to issue much more precise commands to your squadmates via a vastly superior tactical interface. Finally, mech loadout customization is visible on your mech, both in the bay and in the field.
Overall, I would say it is at least on par with MW2. I love them both, and I honestly think Earthsiege is worth the time of any mech fan.

I owned both games and this one had its fun points. Truthfully, this one does not come up to the graphics standards of MW2, but in some ways it seemed more fun to play. They both were fun and haven't worked on any of my computers in years. The install discs are packed away "who knows where". Thanks, I'll enjoy this... DOSBox is so cool, and so are these retro gaming sites. This one is my favorite.

It surprised me to find out that there was a game that can rival Mechwarrior 2. I was playing this game when I was at my grandpa's home, for I did not know where our Mechwarrior 2 Mercenary Titanium edition disk went. it was pretty good, and was able to satisfy my hunger for blowing stuff up.
