How to play SBK X: Superbike World Championship Windows
The game with NoDVD has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, works fine. The game supports widescreen
Install & play guide:
- Mount the disc image. You will need the utility for mounting disc image files, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite
- Install the game (if autorun doesn't work - simply launch the installation from Setup.exe inside the disc)
- You can skip the installation of GameSpy at the end, its servers were shut down in 2014 and doesn't work anymore
- After you installed the game - install NoDVD (simply copy LauncherDialogDLL.dll from the archive and put it into directory with installed game, agree to replace original file)
- Open the directory with the game and find Launcher.exe. Right click on Launcher.exe - Properties - Compatibility - Set "Run this app in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2" and "Run as administrator"
- Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't work in compatibility mode with Windows XP - try to launch it in compatibility mode with other version of Windows (Win98/ME, Win2000, Vista, etc.)
Notes:
- If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
- It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
- The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- If the game crashes after loading the race, or you have problem with missing sound effects/disappearing sound - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz. Read this guide how to do that
- If you get error about missed X3DAudio1_7.dll file, or some another missed file - you need to download & install DirectX End-User Runtime, which includes components of the legacy DirectX SDK that are used by some older games
- European release of the game doesn't have any strict DRM protection, only simple disc check. To disable disc check and play without the disc - use NoDVD, it is "cracked" dll-file with disc check removed
- Be careful, Russian retail release was using infamous StarForce DRM that can break your system! Make sure to use NoDVD before the first launch, or you will launch the automatical installation of StarForce DRM drivers. NoDVD for Russian version showed few generic warnings, it is safe to use, here's the VirusTotal report

Okay, seems like I found the solution, in one thread about SBK 2011. If the game crashes after loading the race - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz, here's the guide how to do that https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Sound#Sound_problems_.28cracking.2C_delays.2C_missing_music.2Feffects.2C_etc..29
SBK 2011 and SBK X both uses the same engine, so I think it should work with SBK X too. I added that solution in Notes

@HARVEY Try to install Polish release, maybe it will work better. It is DRM-Free and has English & Polish languages. Or try to play with original exe-file (don't use NoDVD), with disc in virtual drive

Thanks for the reply, but I've followed the instructions and still no luck. A bit strange as you say because all the other Milestone games I've downloaded have worked fine.

@HARVEY Make sure to run as administrator and in compatibility mode with Windows XP. There should be no issue with this game since previous SBK games by Milestone used same engine and worked fine on Windows 10. Also, did you use NoDVD?
