Description of EcoQuest: The Search for Cetus
Jane Jansen's (of Gabriel Knight fame) first game for Sierra is an excellent adventure game for any kid who's old enough to type.
As son of an ecologist Adam, you must help the dolphin Cetus save the sea from pollution and waste. Educational elements are ingeniously blended into gameplay, from the new "recycle" icon that gives points when the player uses it on recylable objects, to lots of environmental facts throughout the narrative that are interwoven with traditional inventory-based puzzles.
Highly recommended.

For everyone that wonders why the speech audio isn't working. The reason for that is that this seems to be the disc version of the game. The cd version had the speech (I had that one in my collection, but gave everything to my nephew with a slower pc long long ago).

Is there a a reason why the game crashes when you get to the dark cave and try to pick up the silver box

Speech audio is not working for me either. I've tried running the install and selecting different options for the sound and speech, but nothing seems to work. It does seem to run fine otherwise if you can deal with the lack of voices. However, if you look at the comments below the game, it looks like there are crashing issues for some people after reaching a certain point. Might want to try downloading and running this one in Windows 3.1 via a virtual machine.

If you love King's Quest or similar adventure games, you will love the ECO Quest series. It's for kids so the puzzles are a bit easier, and the stakes are lower (if you don't get a puzzle, you just wander around forever not moving forward--you don't die gruesomely), but it's the same point-and-click experience.

I for the life of me cannot get the dialogue audio to work. I'm using DOSBox, but the dialogue is silent, while the music and sound effects are present. Any suggestions? I can't find any solutions on the Sierra website, nor via Google that have worked.

Jane Jensen? Creator of Gabriel Knight and EXCELLENT King Quest 6? That's big enough reason to try it...!
