Fudge 123 2024-11-19 0 point Amiga version

Barley playable terribleness dressed up as an actual game that thinks it's a platformer, nice graphics, cute characters with punchy colours can't save it,it's just too hard considering the demographics it's aimed at.

The annoying Edd the duck from the BBC's broom cupboard kids output of the late 80's makes his debut, with a lacklustre paint by numbers platformer, set in a pseudo film set,the enemies that stand in your way can't be killed only frozen, the Wilson the butler hand is looming at the top right corner as you jump about trying to make the platforms, but poor little Edd can only do so much,a horizontal only snowball shooter is all he has,no vertical one,the unforgiving fishes/teddies that fly left to right or suddenly appear from above stun him with pixel accuracy, and his efforts are cast to the 4 winds each time you think you're safe on a ledge just out of reach of the bad guys.

The only thing saving this game is so far as i got on level 1,is no visible time limit, and the stars you collect are not replaced if you die,so you don't have recollect them again, but you're plonked back at the bottom of the level again after each defeat.

The Amiga version had only 1 disk and it loads quickly after you die,but i accidentally got into level 2,i was saving a snapshot on WinUAE,it just went to the 2nd level with no loading at all, although level 2 looked almost identical to level .

It seems the game designers were more fixated on what it looks like, rather than game play, and as with most Amiga games of the 500/+/600 era,it's the up for jump joystick thing that really makes this game a bit too much trouble, along with the thoughtless enemies/level design, and seeing as Edd the duck's novelty has worn off the minute you load it,so has any of the reasons to actually play this BBC cynical cash grab of kiddies pocket money at the time.
Slim to none...
