This was originally sold as a sort of coffee table book with the CD-ROM included in the back cover. I might still have my copy somewhere. Iron Maiden did something kind of like this around the same time.

There are tools like "D-Fend", "AmpShell" and "foobar2000" that allow you to run DOS games (in dosbox) without having to insert a command line. There are pre-configured games and some need tweaking. To tweak settings you should read https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/

I had success downloading zip from archive.org, but the downloads from here I couldn't get to work (and DOS is borderline before my time...hardly know anything about it)
