Check internet archive. it is in zip format around 500MB. and it's NOT useless BIN/CUE. I checked the contents of the zip.

I'm not sure why you're getting a fatal error.
I just played the ISO version for about an hour and it ran perfectly. Dosbox 0.74-3 on Linux.

Here's how I got it running for anyone interested.
Let's say you extracted the ISO to C:\Games\RenIso\.
In Dosbox:
mount x c:\Games
imgmount d x:\RenIso\REN_V1_0.cue -t iso
d:
install
Select Monster and install to X:\RENEGADE (or wherever)

Once it's installed go into the sound setup
Select AWE, confirm Soundblaster 32 AWE
Select No and use address 0x220, IRQ 7, DMA 1

If you want to fly with the keyboard, select Configure flight control device

Then just run RENEGADE.BAT from where you installed it to.

I have tried both versions, neither work. I can set up the sound, the controller, but always get a fatal error when trying to start the game. I guess no one ever test these before they post them, or if they do they are running them in their original platform. Who has a 1990 PC? I sure some geek does. But way too often (50%) these games do not work. Then if they do work, they are lame and should be abandoned. (40%)
I spend more time trying to find a good game that works than playing any of them. What a joke.

I am using DosBox.

I have tried downloading the ISO version below, but DosBox states there is no MS DOS programs in the file.

I was the only kid that had this growing up and other kids used to always tell me how awesome it was. Tie Fighter was better, but they all lacked the team building element that this one had. One of a kind for sure.

My favourite (and possibly only) space simulator of all times! Love the graphics and action!

While only an average wing-commander-a-like game, the battle music on the CD version is something special and worth hunting down on it's own.
